Mentawai Island is one line with Nias and located about 130 km off the west coast of Western Sumatera. Four islands make up the Mentawai archipelagoof the West Sumatera coast, there are Siberut, Sipora, South Pagai, and North Pagai. This Island is well-known for its virgin rainforest, inhabited by number of fauna that can not be found anywhere in the world. The natural vegetation is tropical lowland rainforest. To get to Mentawai Island, first you need to go to Padang (West Sumatera). Then take a boat from Padang to Siberut (Mentawai Surf Camp), there is a small town called Maura Siberut. The first Mentawai longhouses can be reached within a day’s trekking from Muara Siberut. Either way go to Sipora (Aloita and Lances), Pagai(Macaronis), or the Telos (Telo Island Surfing Village).
